At Viemose DGS, these demands drive our product development. After months of development and testing, we are introducing two new upgrades for our proven Moving Gutter System. GrønStart and GrønPro. Along with a newly developed 40 mm gutter designed specifically for teen leaf and small leaf production.
Together, these solutions provide growers with greater flexibility, improved plant health, and a more efficient production setup without compromising the reliability and flexibility our growers have come to expect from our Moving Gutter System.
Why Upgrade a Proven Moving Gutter System?
Our Moving Gutter System has been helping growers automate leafy green production for years. By automatically increasing plant spacing as crops develop, the system ensures every plant receives the growing space it needs while maximizing greenhouse capacity.
However, as more growers expand into teen leaf and small leaf production, new requirements have emerged. Smaller crops, shorter production cycles, and increased demand for automation called for a solution designed specifically for this segment.
That is exactly what GrønStart, GrønPro, and the new gutter model deliver.
A New 40 mm Gutter Designed for Teen Leaf Growing
At the heart of the new upgrades is our newly developed 40 mm gutter, designed specifically for teen leaf and small leaf production using Ø20 mm Ellepot sleeves.
Developed over several months, the gutter has been refined to create the ideal balance between plant performance, production capacity, and operational efficiency.
While the profile is smaller, it delivers the same reliable performance as our existing gutter solutions while making better use of the available greenhouse space. This allows growers to increase plant capacity without compromising growing conditions or system efficiency.
A Gutter Designed for Better Growing
The new 40 mm gutter has been developed specifically for teen leaf and small leaf production.
While the profile is smaller than our previous gutter models, it has been fully optimized to deliver the same reliable performance while making better use of available growing space.
By designing the gutter around the sleeve size, each plant receives optimal spacing from the start of the production cycle. This supports more uniform growth, improved access to light and airflow, and a balanced wet/dry environment that promotes strong root development.
Improved Hygiene and System Efficiency
The closed design also improves system hygiene by preventing light penetration to the root zone, reducing algae growth and minimizing biomass accumulation in gutters and return water. This results in a cleaner system and easier maintenance between production cycles.
The gutter integrates with automated production systems and supports gutter lengths of up to 12 meters. It is equally suitable for manual operations with gutter lengths of 5-6 meters, giving growers flexibility as their production evolves.
Combined with the Ellepot seeding system, it enables precise seed placement, consistent seed depth, and flexible seed spacing between 20 and 100 mm, ensuring a uniform crop from seeding to harvest.
Despite its compact size, the new gutter maintains the efficiency expected from the Moving Gutter System and works perfectly within existing production setups.
The result is more plants per square meter, healthier and more uniform crops, and improved overall production efficiency.

To complement the new gutter, we have developed two complete Moving Gutter System upgrades that allow growers to choose the level of automation that best fits their production.
Both upgrades are built on the same proven Moving Gutter System technology and can be adapted to meet individual production requirements.

This upgrade integrates the full capabilities of the Moving Gutter System, automating the plant movement through each growth phase for optimal space use and uniform crop development.

One of the biggest achievements during development was proving that a smaller gutter does not mean lower performance.
The new design maintains the efficiency growers expect while creating space for more plants within the same production area. Combined with optimized irrigation, healthy root conditions, and automated plant spacing, growers can increase production capacity while maintaining consistent crop quality.
Whether producing lettuce, herbs, or other leafy greens, the system supports uniform growth from seeding to harvest while minimizing manual handling and simplifying daily operations.
